Cannabinoid Infused-Beverages and Water-Soluble Products
We all know the old adage, “water and oil DON’T mix”; however, with our technology we are doing just that! Cannabinoids are hydrophobic, meaning they repel water. Most if not all cannabinoid-infused, water-soluble products utilize two mechanisms for stability: nanoemulsion of the oil and surfactant technology. The first step involves reducing the particle size of the individual oil droplets to where they can be easily suspended in a water-based solution. The following step is to stabilize the emulsion using an additive such as a surfactant.
This technique works and has been proven; however, consumers complain that the additive causes a soap-like or gasoline taste. That makes sense being that most chemical surfactants are petroleum-based and heavily used in detergents.
Gara-Tech relaxes water’s surface-active bonds, making the water more accessible and less dense allowing hydrophobic cannabinoids the ability to transfer into solution where our biotechnology keeps them stable.
Our biosurfactant is generally regarded as safe (GRAS) by US FDA, which allows for applications in food and beverages. Because of its natural origins, there is no overpowering taste, oil separation or other nasty feelings while consuming the final formula. By removing the harmful dangers presented by traditional surfactants, Gara-Tech acts as a natural preservative, is low in toxicity and biodegradable.
